Arriving and Departing from Myanmar
Arrival time to Yangon
If you are joining the summit in Yangon and do not arrive with the rest of the summit participants from Bangkok, please arrive in Yangon latest in the evening on 27 April.
Flights into Yangon
All major cities in Southeast Asia are connected with direct flights into Yangon. If you are coming directly from Europe, the easiest ways are either with Thai Airways International from Oslo connecting in Bangkok to Yangon. You can also fly with Qatar Airways via Doha directly into Yangon.
Immigration and Customs
Make sure you have filled in the Myanmar immigration and customs forms before landing. Queues at the arrival immigration counters in Yangon can sometimes be a lengthy process, especially during peak hours. Please check visa requirements before your travel to Myanmar.
Limousines to the Hotel
If you are part of the group of main summit participants arriving from Bangkok, transportation will be arranged from Mingaladon Airport to Traders Hotel. If you arrive individually, Traders Hotel offers hotel limousines (booked together with the hotel accommodation) as follows:
- Toyota Royal Crown USD 40
- Toyota Alphard USD 40
The trip to Traders Hotel will take approximately one hour from Yangon airport.
Departing from Yangon and Nay Pyi Taw
For the trip back to the airport in the early morning on 29 April 2014, we will arrange joint transportation to the airport before departure for Nay Pyi Taw. We will also arrange transportation at Nay Pyi Taw on arrival and before departure for Bangkok and Yangon in the evening on 29 April.
About the Programme in Nay Pyi Taw
The programme in Nay Pyi Taw for the Myanmar extension will most probably not be finalised until very closed to the summit dates due to extremely busy ministerial officials. We have been guaranteed that we will be meeting some very senior people in Myanmar’s government, but exactly whom depends on availability on the particular day. The plan is that we fly up by a charter plane from Yangon to Nay Pyi Taw on Tuesday 29 April in the morning and try to finish in Nay Pyi Taw by late afternoon. There are two ways of continuing out of Nay Pyi Taw:
- Bangkok Airways flight PG 722 departing Nay Pyi Taw 19.30 hrs. and arriving at Bangkok’s Suvarnabhumi Airport at 22.30 hrs.
- By the return flight to Yangon making it possible to catch flights to Bangkok, Hanoi, Hong Kong, Kolkata, Kuala Lumpur, Tokyo, Seoul and Singapore which all depart from Yangon between 19.00 hrs and 01.15 the next morning
