Ambassador Ann Ollestad
Ann Ollestad is Norway’s Ambassador to Myanmar.
Ms. Ollestad obtained a Master in Political Science from the University of Oslo in 1983 and started working for the daily newspaper, Aftenposten and for a non-profit Think Tank on developmental and economic policy before joining the Ministry of Development Cooperation in 1987 – later the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. She has since then held various positions within the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and been posted to Paris, Bonn, Geneva and New Delhi.
From 2003 to 2006, Ms. Ollestad was Director General for Press, Cultural Relations and Information Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. From 2006 to 2007, she was a special advisor to the Ministry of Education on policy regarding internationalisation of research and higher education before becoming Ambassador to India and Bhutan in 2007.
Following her posting to India, Ms. Ollestad became a special advisor to Energy+, an International Energy and Climate initiative with a special focus on Asia and the private sector. Since October 2013, Ms. Ollestad has been Norway’s Ambassador to Myanmar, the first resident Ambassador to the country.
