Telenor has been present in Asia for more than 15 years. With significant operations in five Asian markets it is the only European operator reaching across the region. In 2014, Telenor will launch operations in Myanmar, adding a sixth market to it Asian portfolio. Telenor Group has 143 million subscriptions and more than 20,000 employees in Asia. Today, 45-50% of the Group’s mobile revenues come from Asia. Of the five current Asian operations, three are publicly listed.

Telenor in Thailand
Telenor became a shareholder in DTAC in 2001, and has been a strategic partner of the company ever since. As one of the leading mobile operators in Thailand, DTAC serves more than 25 million customers every day. Winning 3G licenses in 2012, DTAC is now taking steps to bring internet to the Thai mass market.
Telenor in Myanmar
Telenor Group was one of the two successful applicants in the competition for a telecoms license in Myanmar. Among more than 90 applicants, Telenor and Ooredoo emerged as winners. Telenor’s license agreement was signed in January 2014 and Telenor Myanmar expects to roll out mobile services by Q3/2014.
